Mathieu Gasquet is the co-owner and editor of Mirrorless Comparison, as well as the man behind all the camera tests. Mathieu has been a professional photographer for over 15 years. Before specializing in camera reviews, he worked as an event photographer for the National Cinema Museum in Turin, and as a videomaker for renowned Italian agencies, which allowed him to collaborate with important names such as Fiat, Sky Italia, Maserati, and more. Mathieu also studied cinema in France and obtained a degree in cinematography at the A.R.F.I.S. school in Lyon.

This release came as a pleasant surprise. I’ve wondered for years why the manufacturer didn’t make this feature a default on all their cameras. With the Covid-19 pandemic and many people forced to stay home, Canon decided it was time to finally enable the functionality to support its customers.
The X-T4 is Fujifilm’s third camera with in-body image stabilisation (IBIS). It comes after the X-H1, which was released in 2018, and the GFX-100 medium format camera released in 2019.
Fujifilm has taken more time than other brands to introduce this popular feature to its users. The X-H1 was actually built for this purpose, with a larger body that would accommodate the sensor shift mechanism. Then Fuji’s engineers managed to reduce the IBIS size by approximately 30% and fit it inside the X-T4 while only slightly increasing the body size.
Fujifilm has invested considerable resources into the X-T line-up in order to make it an attractive proposition for filmmakers. By adding 10-bit internal recording, 4K up to 60fps and dedicated picture profiles, the X-T3 and X-T4 have raised the bar in comparison to other mirrorless products, and Fuji’s colour signature is the cherry on top.
Among the improved features found on the X-T4 is the possibility to record 10x slow motion video, which is double the speed of the previous X-T3.
