Mathieu Gasquet is the co-owner and editor of Mirrorless Comparison, as well as the man behind all the camera tests. Mathieu has been a professional photographer for over 15 years. Before specializing in camera reviews, he worked as an event photographer for the National Cinema Museum in Turin, and as a videomaker for renowned Italian agencies, which allowed him to collaborate with important names such as Fiat, Sky Italia, Maserati, and more. Mathieu also studied cinema in France and obtained a degree in cinematography at the A.R.F.I.S. school in Lyon.

The Best Sony A7 III, A7R III, A9 Accessories Compared

The Sony A7 mark III has turned lots of heads since its announcement and for good reason. It has a state-of-the-art image sensor, stellar autofocus performance, excellent video quality, in-body stabilisation, an improved battery life and many other features thrown in at a reasonable price.

Of course, no camera is perfect. The ergonomics of the A7 III could definitely be improved for example. And even if you’re satisfied with the camera as it is, you may want to invest in a few accessories to expand your creative horizons and improve the camera’s usability.

Since the release of the first RX100, Sony has made some impressive leaps forward in terms of what a compact camera can do – particularly when you look at speed, autofocus and video. From the built-in pop-up EVF of the RX100 III to the introduction of phase detection AF on the RX100 V, these little cameras continue to raise the bar higher and higher in this segment.

The Sony A7 III is a full frame mirrorless camera with a 24MP BSI sensor, fast autofocus system with 693 phase detection points (the same as the flagship A9), 10fps continuous shooting capabilities, 4K video and many other things. It is part of the third generation of A7 cameras in the E-mount series and is the prosumer model. It shares the same design as the A9 and A7R III (AF Joystick, Dual SD card, Larger battery, etc.) but comes at a more attractive price.

The Fujifilm X-H1 is the flagship model in the X-Series line-up. It is the largest APS-C camera designed by Fuji and is the first model to introduce 5-axis stabilisation. It has more advanced features for video including the Eterna film simulation mode, a bitrate of 200 Mbps and other settings. It shares many characteristics with the X-T2 and other cameras such as the 24MP X-Trans III sensor and hybrid autofocus system.

Comparing Sony with Fujifilm is always an interesting exercise because the two companies have opposite approaches when it comes to designing cameras. The current line-up couldn’t be a better example: Sony uses the same body to embed different kinds of technology, whereas Fujifilm has different bodies that share the same hardware.
