There isn’t a lot to report this week: a few lenses made available for more camera mounts, some firmware updates and the Voigtländer 50mm F1.5 for Leica M-mount.
Viltrox 23mm F1.4, 33mm F1.4 and 56mm F1.4 Autofocus Lenses for Nikon Z-mount
The three lenses were originally designed for the Fujifilm X-mount, then they became available for the Canon EF-M mount and Sony E-mount. Now, you can also find them for the Nikon Z-mount.
They are designed for APS-C sensors, which means the Nikon Z50 and Z fc cameras. This is good news for Nikon users, as there isn’t a large number of native Nikkor lenses for DX mirrorless cameras at the moment. The price is very competitive (between $280 and $330).
Voigtländer Heliar Classic 50mm F1.5VM
The Classic 50mm F1.5 is a manual focus lens designed for Leica M cameras, although it can be easily adapted to other full frame mirrorless cameras via adapters. According to Dpreview, the lens has been designed to render classic reflections as well as various aberrations not found on modern lenses. It will be available in September for approximately $825.
Other characteristics:
- 6 elements in 3 groups
- 10-blade aperture diaphragm
- Minimum focusing of 50cm
- 56.5mm large, 41.9mm long
- 255g
TTArtisan 11mm F2.8 Fisheye for the Fujifilm GFX system
This news is a bit older, but since I didn’t publish the round-up last week, I’m including it here.
TTArtisan has made its full frame 11mm F2.8 available for the GFX medium format system. The lens has the same design as the full frame version, but comes with a larger lens mount to fit GFX cameras. It is one of the cheapest lenses you can buy for the system at $215.
Canon Eos R5 Firmware Update
Version 1.4.0 adds support for 8K RAW video output via the HDMI port, which can be recorded to the Atomos Ninja V recorder in Prores RAW format (firmware update also required for the Ninja V). Other improvements include:

- dual video recording on the CFexpress and SD card (except for RAW and RAW light)
- support for the VPG 400 (Video Performance Guarantee Profile)
- improvement of operation stability with the RF 400mm f/2.8 and RF 600mm f/4
- small bug fixes with the HDMI port and image stabilisation
The firmware can be downloaded from the Canon website.
Sony A7C Firmware Update
A very small update for A7C users: version 1.01 resolves an issue where the information displayed in the viewfinder doesn’t appear in the right position. The firmware can be downloaded from the Sony website.
