This week, we have new lenses and two firmware updates for Sony full frame cameras.
Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD for Fujifilm
The 17-70mm F2.8 becomes the second lens from Tamron for X-mount users (the first being the 18-300mm). It is the same lens released for Sony E-mount in 2021, but optimised for Fujifilm APS-C cameras. It comes at the attractive price of $800, making it an interesting alternative to the Fujinon 16-55mm F2.8.

Laowa 90mm F2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO
The latest from Venus Optics is a new macro lens designed for full frame mirrorless cameras, sporting an excellent 2x magnification ratio. It is available for Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF and L-mount cameras, and is set at a price of $500.

Meike 8mm F2.8 for Micro Four Thirds
Meike has released a new wide angle lens designed for micro four thirds cameras, giving you an 16mm equivalent field of view. It’s manual focus only and there are no electronic contacts. Price is $400.

Sony A1 and A7S III Firmware Update
Version 1.30 (A1) and 2.10 (A7S III) add the following improvements, in addition to the usual bug fixes and improvements to the overall stability of the camera:
- RAW Lossless Compression with L, M and S sizes (A1 only)
- XAVC HS codec with 10-bit 4:2:2 option when recording 8K (A1 only)
- Proxy recording with a remote PC connection
- Eye AF accuracy improved
- Stability of the Custom WB
- Eye sensor detection performance with strong light sources (A7S III only)
