Sony A7C II vs A7 IV

The 5 Main Differences

Curious to discover the five most important differences between the Sony A7C II and A7 IV? Let's take a look!

1. DESIGN The A7C II is lighter and more compact. The larger A7 IV includes a heat dissipation structure, a bigger EVF, two card slots, an AF joystick, an extra button and extra dial.

2. AUTOFOCUS The A7C II has more advanced subject detection, powered by a dedicated A.I. chip. It can detect more parts of human and animal bodies, and can recognise a broader range of subjects.

3. SHUTTER The A7C II doesn't have a full mechanical shutter, only the electronic-first curtain shutter and standard electronic shutter. The A7 IV offers all three modes: full mechanical, EFCS, and full electronic.

4. STABILISATION Both cameras have 5-axis in-body stabilization, but the A7C II comes with a superior rating of 7 stops of compensation, versus 5 stops on the A7 IV.

5. BUFFER  The A7 IV has an advantage with CFexpress cards. It can capture more than 1,000 RAW files, allowing you to shoot at 10fps for over a minute without slowing down.
