OM System OM-1 vs OM-1 II

The 5 Main Differences

Curious to discover the five most important differences between the OM System OM-1 and OM-1 II? Let's take a look!

1. AUTOFOCUS The AI Detection AF now includes humans, replacing the old Face/Eye setting. It improves precision when the person is facing away, or is smaller in the frame. C-AF has been improved for birds as well.

2. BUFFER They share the same continuous shooting speed (50fps with C-AF and 120fps with S-AF), but the OM-1 II almost double the buffer capacity with RAW and JPG files.

3. STABILISATION The OM-1 can compensate up to 7EV with sensor shift alone, while the OM-1 II reaches 8.5 stops. With Sync IS (body and optical stabilisation), the original OM-1 goes up to 8 stops, while the Mark II maintains the same 8.5EV rating.

4. HR SHOT Both cameras can capture high-resolution shots up to 80MP (tripod) or 50MP (hand-held). The key distinction is that the OM-1 II can save 14-bit RAW files, whereas its predecessor is limited to 12-bit.

5. Live GND  The OM-1 II introduces Live GND (Graduated ND). You can adjust the position and angle, with three steps (GND2, GND4, or GND8) and three types (Soft, Medium, or Hard) to choose from.
